Seapoint – Strand
Swiss writer Gabrielle Alioth has been living in Ireland for nearly 40 years, in County Louth at the east coast, north of Dublin. Every day early in the morning she walks her dog at the nearby beach called Seapoint. What she encounters, sees and conceives there, features in this book in 52 pictures and 12 prose texts in German and English.
The photographs by the author, following the cycle of the year, range from close-ups of details like starfish and traces on the strand to impressive water- and cloudscapes, the play of sunlight and to nearly abstract images of the morning dawn. – The strand is reality as well as myth.
In the German and English texts, present and past interlace. Characters from Irish mythology emerge from the strand and reflect the biography of the author.

I see reports of a new book on Seapoint just published. The book has the title “Seapoint – Strand” and it includes 52 photographs from the last 10 years with texts in German and English.
The book was compiled by Gabrielle Alioth, can’t say the name is familiar but said to be living locally. Talk about the book is very positive, anything that highlights the beauty of our local beach has to be.
Gabrielle Alioth ist mit ihren Wort- und Bildbetrachtungen der Zeiten und Gezeiten, ihren kurzen aber gewichtigen Geschichten und dem wirkungsvollen Verweben zweier Sprachen mit Hinweis auf genaue Wort (Doppel)-Bedeutungen ein einmaliger Band gelungen.
